New types of warranties pop up daily corresponding to evolving components included in new, electric or hybrid vehicles. Whether new or CPO, some warranties remain the same: the powertrain and the bumper-to-bumper warranties, for example. What are they exactly? Great question. Here's the short, simple answer from our Casco, MI Fred Grande Ford team's warranty experts.
This warranty covers the replacement and repair of parts needed to generate your car's power: engine, transmission, differential. The coverage period may span up to six or more years, depending on make, model, new, or CPO. Most powertrain warranties don't cover parts known to wear out with daily use and require periodic replacement: batteries, fluids, belts, clutch.
The Bumper-to-Bumper WarrantyRest assured that nearly everything in your car from its front to its back bumper enjoys coverage thanks to a bumper-to-bumper warranty. This warranty even covers the powertrain. This warranty is so comprehensive, often even called comprehensive, that its lifespan is often shorter than the powertrain warranty coverage period. Like a powertrain warranty, this warranty doesn't cover parts expected to experience wear and need routine replacement: glass, surfaces, interior trim, upholstery.
